About Virši
Virši is a rapidly growing local energy commodities trader and convenience store network with 30 years of experience. Currently, Virši operates 83 service stations and has more than 900 employees throughout Latvia. Since 11 November 2021, the shares of AS VIRŠI-A have been listed on the Nasdaq Riga First North Market.
The company is driving sustainability by exclusively using renewable electricity produced in Latvia. It collaborates with 65 local producers and has installed solar panels at nearly half of its stations, generating on average 22% of station electricity from solar for self-consumption.
The Challenge
With renewables and sustainability at the core of Virši, the company was seeking a pilot partner to create unique offerings for its electricity customers and harness the benefits of household flexibility.
Partnering with Synergi – Finland’s leading household flexibility provider with deep user-level expertise – was a natural choice. The goal of the collaboration was to explore the role of managed home EV charging within Virši’s portfolio.
The Solution
As part of the pilot phase, a selected group of Virši customers tested Synergi’s home energy platform by connecting their electric vehicles and using its smart charging feature.
The aim of the pilot was to understand how Virši can influence EV users’ charging behavior through the right incentives, how households experience the service, and what tangible benefits they expect from it.
The Results
With this pilot, Synergi managed to improve gross margin by 28%-points (-1% → 27%).
At the same time, the pilot reached 100% satisfaction rate amongst this user group, who said they would recommend managed EV charging to their friends & family.
