Helsinki (May 14, 2025) — Synergi, a Finnish tech company accelerating the transition toward sustainable energy through smart and flexible software for consumers and utilities, announces it has become the first Flexibility Service Provider (FSP) to join FinFlex, Finland’s first congestion management marketplace hosted by NODES.
FinFlex is a joint development project by Fingrid and Helen Electricity Network to establish a TSO-DSO congestion management market. It is the first marketplace of its kind in Finland, where the flexibility needs of both transmission and distribution networks are addressed through a shared platform. The marketplace officially launched on April 30, 2025.
Synergi now becomes the first provider to join the marketplace, where it plans to trade the flexibility of its household Virtual Power Plant (VPP) as needed. Currently, Synergi serves over 10,000 Finnish households via the Synergi app, with 38% of them owning an electric vehicle, 43% HVAC systems, and 19% solar systems—ready to participate in grid-balancing efforts while being rewarded for their flexibility.
As a first step, Synergi is preparing to launch a reward function for selected households. The new feature will allow users to take advantage of Synergi's optimization and shift consumption to cheaper, grid-friendly hours – and receive rewards for it.
“We’re building a future where households play a central role in energy flexibility. Becoming the first provider in Finland to join the NODES and FinFlex marketplace brings us one step closer to deploying Synergi’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) to help balance the Finnish electricity grid—and to reward the households on our platform for their contribution,” says Harri Iisakka, Chief Operations Officer at Synergi.
"NODES welcome Synergi Solutions as the first FSP in the FinFlex TSO-DSO Congestion Management Market. We are looking forward to see the flexibility provided by Synergi and other FSPs contribute to optimising grid operation and planning in Finland,” says Guro Grøtterud, Director Regulatory Affairs and Senior Project Manager at NODES.
